HISTORY
The company started up in 2002 under the name FIVESTAR COMFORT, aiming to become a player in the Romanian hotel guest supplies distribution market, representing well known suppliers from Germany.
Until the end of 2003, the company owner used its infrastructure to independently participate in strategy consulting projects.
In 2004, capitalizing on 6 years of strategy consulting expertise and perceiving new development opportunities, the decision was made to change the trajectory of the company towards becoming a consulting company specialized in the hospitality industry.
Since the end of 2006, a time of accelerated absorption of specialized industry knowledge started, working in projects and adding post-graduate education organized by the Royal Institute of Hospitality Management, a cooperation with ECOLE HOTELIERE DE LAUSANNE – Switzerland under the high patronage of the ROYAL HOUSE of ROMANIA. The company went through a complete rebranding becoming FIVESTAR HOSPITALITY, a local brand which penetrated rapidly the entire Romanian hospitality industry with the support of the Romanian Hospitality Newsletter.
In 2008, it established a partnership with Horwath HTL Zagreb, seeking high-level projects in Romania and Moldova while also maintaining full independence in the market. The cooperation left a lasting impact on the Romanian team’s expertise and capabilities. Fivestar Hospitality has gained valuable industry insights, refined its methodologies, and adopted global best practices, significantly enhancing its ability to deliver high-quality consulting services according to international standards.
Fivestar Hospitality remains a hub of international excellence, leveraging a strong network built over many years to bring when needed top experts in hotels, tourism, and leisure to projects of all sizes and significance.
FOUNDER AND CEO
IONESCU ALEXANDRU - SORIN
Graduate of the “Politehnica” University Bucharest – Engineering Sciences German Department and the German College, Goethe in Bucharest, Alexandru continued his higher education with the Royal Foundation of Hospitality Management post-graduate diploma signed in 2007 by Her Royal Highness The Princess Margarita of Romania and Mr. Ruud Reuland – General Director of Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL). His career began in 1998 experiencing 2 multinational strategy consulting companies: Cap Gemini and Roland Berger Strategy Consulting.
2003 offered him the opportunities to follow his dream on the entrepreneurship path. Along with the hotel tourism and leisure experience that he started to build in 2004, Alexandru is still grateful to his prior industry experiences that offer him the much needed lateral thinking and problem solving skills. Methodological competencies in fields like hotel development, hotel asset management, M&A, financial management, organization/ sop, marketing and sales, procurement, HR…help him to always create and coordinate services adapted to the needs of each individual client. He speaks fluently English and German.
He's been teaching the Financial Management course as a Lecturer of the American Hotel Academy in Brasov for 8 years and a video recording of the course is available for purchase on the Fivestar Academy page.
